140CPS12420 is the core redundant power module of Schneider Electric's Modicon Quantum series PLC. It is specially designed for industrial automation systems and provides a 5.1V DC core power supply (suitable for CPUs, communication modules, etc.). This module uses industrial-grade components and multiple protection designs, and is compatible with -25℃ to +70℃ harsh conditions. It can be used with the entire series of Quantum modules and is combined with Unity Pro software to achieve remote status monitoring and fault alarm.

140CPS12420 Diagnostic Function:
LED indicator lights:
POWER (Power is normal, green)
5V OK (Output is normal, green)
FAULT (Fault alarm, red)
REDUNDANT (Redundant status, yellow)
Four LED indicators (POWER/5V OK/FAULT/REDUNDANT) provide real-time feedback on the operating status. When a fault occurs, the FAULT indicator remains constantly illuminated. In combination with the status relay, it enables remote alarm and allows for fault location without the need to disassemble the equipment on-site.
Working mode of 140CPS12420:
Independent mode: A single module operates independently, with an output current upper limit of 11A. No current sharing control is required. Suitable for small and medium-sized PLC systems (such as a single CPU + a small number of I/O), with simple wiring and lower cost.
Redundant mode (1+1): Two 140CPS12420 are connected in parallel, and current sharing and status synchronization are achieved through the backplane bus. Normally, each module bears 50% of the load; if any module fails, the other module takes over all the loads within 20ms, and the system does not stop. The upper limit of output current is 10A (60℃) in this mode. It is necessary to ensure that the two modules have the same model and firmware version, and the wiring is symmetrical.
Installation Requirements:
Installation Location: A well-ventilated area within the control cabinet, installed vertically on a 35mm DIN rail, ensuring that the module heat sinks are not obstructed and the distance between modules is ≥ 50mm.
Grounding Specifications: The PE terminals of the modules must be reliably connected to the protection grounding of the control cabinet.
Redundant Installation: In redundant mode, the two modules are installed side by side. The input power supplies need to be connected to different power circuits (or UPS circuits) respectively to avoid simultaneous power loss of both modules due to a single power failure; the output ends are connected in parallel through the Quantum backplane bus, and no additional current equalizing wires are required.
