SST-PB3-REM SST™ PROFIBUS Remote Module

SST-PB3-REM is an independent, remotely installed PROFIBUS remote communication module launched by Molex Inc. It is used to bridge the communication between the Rockwell Automation Logix platform (such as ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SoftLogix, GuardLogix) and the PROFIBUS network. This communication module distributes PROFIBUS communication to more suitable locations on-site, thereby significantly reducing the cost of long-distance PROFIBUS cable laying from control cabinets to field devices, while increasing the system's flexibility.

SST™ SST-PB3-REM Remote Module for PROFIBUS is a "Linking device" with on-board Profibus and Ethernet communication ports that provide a fast and easy solution for adding Profibus Master and Slave connectivity to Rockwell Logix controllers (CompactLogix, SoftLogix). This unique remote concept offers the same features as an in-chassis module but with extra functionalities and services due to its flexible remote design. For example, the PB3 Remote Module reduces the cost of expensive Profibus cabling when used in environments where the controller and field devices are a long distance apart.

 

 

SST-PB3-REM Remote Module is fully integrated into Rockwell Automation's Integrated Architecture through features such as the Add-on-Instructions to save integration time; direct access from RSLogix 5000 to I/O data without writing any ladder logic; and complete access to Profibus DPV1 services and device diagnostics.

 

SST-PB3-REM Remote Module software includes a Windows engineering console for Profibus master and slave configuration that exports Profibus process variables in RSLogix 5000 (.L5X) format, performs automatic DP slave detection, and displaysonlinee diagnostics. A CommDTM driver is included as standard to enable Frame DTM applications like AssetCentre™, PACTware™, and Fieldcare™ for asset management.

SST-PB3-REM is an independent hardware module that can be deployed at the optimal location on-site through methods such as DIN rail mounting or cabinet installation.
