Product Introduction
GE IC693PBM200 PROFIBUS DP master module. Its main function is to establish a communication bridge between the PLC and the PROFIBUS DP network, coordinating the data interaction among devices within the network. The module is equipped with status LED indicators. When operating normally and completing electrical diagnosis, the "normal" indicator light remains constantly on; the communication status indicator light is always on when the module actively communicates, and it flashes when there is a bus connection issue or an error occurs, facilitating quick fault location by the staff.

IC693PBM200-BC Core functions and specifications
Maximum number of slave stations
Up to 125 Profibus-DP slave stations can be connected (the actual number is limited by the bus cycle time and module processing capacity, with a typical configuration of dozens.
Maximum data exchange capacity
The input and output data volume of each slave station depends on its specific GSD file. The total data exchange capacity of the module needs to be planned during configuration. Typically, it supports up to 244 bytes of input and 244 bytes of output for each slave station.
Backplane compatibility
It must be installed in the rack of the Series 90-30 series PLC and exchange data with CPU modules (such as IC693CPU331, IC693CPU364, etc.) through the backplane bus.
IC693PBM200-BC Required software and configuration
Main configuration software
The Proficy Machine Edition (PME) software package is required.
In the Logic Developer PLC project of PME, configure the hardware and allocate the correct slots for the PBM200 module.
Use the integrated or standalone Profibus configuration tool (typically a simplified or dedicated version of Siemens' STEP 7 hardware configuration tool, provided with the module or required to be installed separately). In this tool:
Import the GSD file of the required slave device.
Build the network and add the master station (PBM200) and all slave stations.
Assign a network address to each slave station and configure its input/output data area.
Download the configured network parameters to the PBM200 module.
CPU programming
In the PLC ladder diagram or structured text program, read and write operations are directly performed on the Profibus I/O data area mapped to the CPU memory.

Detailed explanation of Module features
Plug-and-play integration: The module is directly inserted into the 90-30 backplane, and the CPU exchanges data with it through a cyclic scan of the backplane. For the CPU, the I/O data of the Profibus slave station is mapped to the specified register address just like the local I/O, and the programming method is similar to that of local I/O.
GSD file support: Configuring the network requires the use of the GSD (Device Database) file of the slave device. These files define the characteristics of the slave station, the supported communication parameters and data formats. All configurations are completed in dedicated configuration software.
Diagnosis and status indication: The front end of the module is equipped with multiple LED indicator lights to show the module status (such as OK, operation, fault), Profibus network status and communication activities, facilitating rapid diagnosis.
Isolation and Protection: The interface has an electrical isolation function and provides certain network protection, enhancing the anti-interference ability and reliability in industrial environments.
