Product Details
IC693CHS391 Main Functions and Specifications
Core Functions:
As the main backplane/baseboard of the 90-30 series PLC, it provides physical mounting slots, electrical connections between modules, and communication buses for CPU modules, I/O modules, and communication modules.
It integrates a 24VDC power supply, which can directly power the logic modules (CPU, communication modules, etc.) and some low-power I/O modules mounted on it. For high-density or special I/O modules, an additional power supply module is usually required.
Key Specifications:
Number of Slots: 8 slots.
Slot 1: Usually fixed for mounting a power supply module or CPU module (depending on the CPU type). For the CHS391, its integrated power supply is located inside the rack, so slot 1 is used for the CPU module.
Slots 2-8: Used for mounting various I/O modules (digital input/output, analog input/output), communication modules (such as Genius bus controllers, Ethernet modules), and special function modules.
Power Input: 24VDC. Requires an external 24VDC regulated power supply.
Power Output (Internal): Provides +5VDC logic power to the backplane bus.
Communication Bus: Provides a proprietary parallel bus for the 90-30 series, used for high-speed data exchange between the CPU and various slot modules.
Physical Characteristics:
Metal casing, robust and durable, suitable for industrial environments.
Mounts to the control cabinet panel via DIN rail or direct bolts.
Front-end features module latches and status indicator areas.
Typical System Configuration: In a standard 90-30 PLC station, the IC693CHS391 is configured as follows:
Slot 1: Installs a 90-30 series CPU module (e.g., IC693CPU351, IC693CPU374, etc.).
Slots 2-8: Install various I/O modules according to control requirements. For example:
IC693MDL740 (32-point digital input)
IC693MDR390 (16-point relay output)
IC693ALG392 (Analog input/output)
IC693BEM331 (Genius bus controller)
External power supply: A separate, sufficiently powerful 24VDC switching power supply is required, connected to the power input terminal of the CHS391.
A Power Supply module must be plugged into the left slot (which is not numbered) of these baseplates. The left slot is a unique size and type that only
supports a Power Supply module.
A CPU module (or a special Option module) must be installed in Slot 1 of these baseplates. Slot 1 is a unique size and type that only supports a CPU module or a special Option module like the FIP Remote I/O Scanner (IC693BEM330). Slot 1 is labeled CPU/1.
Slots numbered 2 and above are of a unique size and type that only support I/O or Option modules.
Expansion and Remote baseplates are supported, so a 25-pin D-type female expansion connector is located at the right end of the baseplate for connecting to an Expansion or Remote baseplate.
Since the CPU is modular, it can be replaced or changed to a different type if additional features are desired.
Only one CPU baseplate is allowed per system. If more than one baseplate is used in a system, the additional ones must be either Expansion or Remote types.
A modular CPU baseplate is always assigned, by default, Rack Number 0.
