Product Introduction
MMS6312 is a dual-channel speed/key phase module produced by EPRO of Germany.
The Dual Channel Rotational SpeedMeasuring Module MMS 6312 measu-res shaft speeds - using outputs frompulse sensors in combination with trigge.ring wheels. Both channels may be sepa.rately used to measure:
-2 speeds from 2 shafts
-2 standstills from 2 shafts
-2 key-pulses from 2 shafts with eachone triggermark (with phase relation)

requested by Analysis and DiagnosticSystems, Field Bus Systems, DistributedControl Systems, plant/host computersand networks as e. g. WAN/LAN, Ether-net. Such Systems are also suitable tobuild up systems to increase the perfor-mance and efficiency, the safety of ope.ration and extend the lifetime of machi-nes such as steam-gas-hydro turbines aswell as compressors, fans, centrifugesand other turbomachines.

Each channel can and must be individu-ally configured with the relevant confi.guration software. Measuring modes canbe configured via an externally connected laptop(RS 232 connector on thefrontpanel of the module) or via theRS 485 communication bus, Measuringmodes can be changed at any time during operation.
Available operating and measuringmodes: Speed measurement with each channel: Forward or backwards speed measurement with pulse sensors / trigger wheelswith 1 to 255 trigger marks and a fre.quency of max. 20 kHz. Measures pulses within a time windowof 5 to 10 ms with a reaction time of26 ms or number of,pulses during part ofa revolution or max, 1 revolution (auto.matic tracking), or measures and processes speed fromnummber of pulses per one revolutionoutput: analogue output proportional tothe speed, or analogue output with splitted range(different sensitivities for different partsof the range), or analogue output with enlarged range(higher sensitivity for only a part of thetotal range)and standard rectangularTTL pulses, or speed measurements with redundanttransducers(i out of two)with bothchannels for one measurement.
Key-pulse detection with each channel: Either with one key mark on the shaft(with defined phase relation)or withmultiple key marks with max. 255 marksper revolution, output: standard negative or positive rectangular key puis of 1 ms duration
Detects standstill of trigger wheels with1 to 255 trigger marks: backwards/forwards detection.
Both channels in combined use: Detects the direction of a rotation withtwo trigger marks of which one is phase.shifted. Difference adjustable in number of RPM |

For each channel two separately adjustabie alarm levels are available which can be operated in the following different modes: increasing or decreasing measuring level; with or without latching. If the complete module is used in asingle channel or if both channels are used in a combined mode all available 4 alarm outputs may be used with that channel. The alarm output functions can be blocked by the channel clear / circuit fault function or by an extemal input. Adjustable ranges: 5...100 % fsd.

Indicate "channel clear" separately for channel 1 and channel 2.
