The 3500/62 Process Variable Monitor, equipped with six channels, is designed for the continuous surveillance of vital machine parameters such as pressures, flows, temperatures, and levels. This monitor accommodates current inputs ranging from +4 to +20 mA and voltage inputs that are proportional between -10 Vdc and +10 Vdc. It processes these signals and then compares them with alarm setpoints that can be programmed by the user.
Users have the ability to configure the 3500/62 with the 3500 Rack Configuration Software to carry out measurements for both current and voltage. The 3500/62 is available with I/O modules tailored for three types of signal inputs: +/-10 Volts DC, isolated 4-20mA, and 4-20mA with Intrinsically Safe zener barriers. The Internal Barrier I/O module includes external power input terminals designed to supply intrinsically safe power to 4-20mA transducers.
The key functions of the 3500/62 monitor include:
- It persistently evaluates monitored parameters against preset alarm thresholds to trigger alarms for the protection of machinery, and
- It supplies crucial machine data for the benefit of both operational and maintenance staff.
In a Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) setup, it is necessary to place Process Variable Monitors next to one another in sets of three. With this configuration, the monitors utilize two forms of voting mechanisms to guarantee precise functioning and to prevent the loss of machinery protection that could result from single-point failures.
