The digital input module is a key component in the automation control system. Its main function is to convert the digital signal of the external device into a signal that the control system can recognize and process, so as to realize the precise monitoring and control of the system. It can collect two state signals of the external device, such as the pressing or releasing of the button, the on and off of the limit switch, the triggering and non-triggering of the sensor, etc., and convert it into a digital signal (usually represented by 0 and 1) and transmit it to the control system. For example, on an automated assembly line, the product arrival detection sensor is connected through a digital input module. When the product reaches the specified position, the sensor is triggered, and the digital input module captures the signal and informs the control system to perform the next operation.
The module transmits the collected digital signals to control systems such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial computers using standard communication protocols. For example, in a smart factory workshop, a large number of digital input modules are distributed in various production links. The collected data is uniformly transmitted and analyzed and processed by the central control system to achieve centralized monitoring and management of the production process.
In an industrial environment, the operating voltage and current of external equipment fluctuate greatly, and there is electromagnetic interference. The digital input module can isolate the external circuit from the internal circuit of the control system to prevent external interference and abnormal voltage and current from damaging the control system, and enhance the stability and reliability of the system. For example, in a metallurgical plant, under strong electromagnetic interference, the isolation protection of the digital input module can ensure the normal operation of the control system.
