Hardware Configuration:
Each I/O module is enclosed in a plastic Phoenix field wiring box module that can be installed in a control cabinet or near the turbine in a location that meets temperature and vibration requirements.
The network architecture is powered by a Netcon module, and the network consists of four independent network trunks, each of which can connect up to 60 I/O modules. The nodes of each trunk, namely the Linknet module, are connected to the Netcon controller module via a pair of twisted pairs, so a Netcon controller module can connect up to 240 Linknet modules via four twisted pairs, each with multiple I/O channels.
There are two rotary switches on the Linknet module for configuring the network address, and when installed, the network address configured on the module must match the module number (1 to 60) specified for the node in the Moe encoder.

 

Fault Diagnosis:
Each I/O module has a red fault indicator to indicate the status of the module. This indicator helps troubleshoot when a problem occurs with the module: a solid red indicator indicates that the actuator controller is not communicating with the CPU module; a flashing red indicator indicates an internal problem with the module and a replacement is recommended.
The microcontroller monitors the output voltage and current of each channel and alerts the system in case of channel and load failures, and the system can disable the current drivers individually.
