Product Details

The main function of the AO3481 communication module is to convert the output instructions from the Triconex main processor (such as the TriStation / MP series controllers) into standard analog signals (typically 4–20 mA current output). These outputs are used to control field devices, such as:
Control Valves (Regulating Valves)
Frequency Converter (VFD)
Pump speed control;
Valve positioner.

 

Unlike traditional output modules, AO3481 adopts a TMR (Triple Module Redundancy) design architecture. This means that within each module, three independent electronic sub-channels are set up for each output channel. Each channel receives the output instructions from the main processing unit (MP series), and then the internal voting circuit determines the final output signal. This design has the following significant advantages:
High fault-tolerance at a single point: Even if one or two of the sub-channels fail, the remaining sub-channels can still output the correct values;
Avoid single-point failures that may cause module failure: Enhance the overall security of the system.
With fault-tolerant diagnostic capability: The built-in diagnostic logic can promptly detect internal channel failures and alert the system.

The controller distributes the analog output instructions to AO3481, which then, after internal judgment and voting logic, outputs to the field actuators.
